NASA Applied Sciences’ DEVELOP Program Fosters the Next Generation of Earth Remote Sensing Scientists PE&RS Cover, June 2009

The Journal of Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing June 2009 cover featured a project conducted by the DEVELOP team at Stennis Space Center. The project, “Florida Water Resource Management: Monitoring Invasive Aquatic Vegetation in Lake Okeechobee, Florida using NDVI Derived from MODIS Data,” explored a new technique of tracking and monitoring invasive aquatic vegetation through the use of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), typically used to monitor changes in vegetation and forest cover. In addition to the cover, Lauren Childs and Madeline Brozen, also of the DEVELOP Program at Stennis Space Center, along with Dr. Lauren Underwood, SSAI, and two members of the DEVELOP National Program, co-authored the highlight article, “NASA Applied Sciences’ DEVELOP Program Fosters the Next Generation of Earth Remote Sensing Scientists.” The cover and article can be found at http://www.asprs.org/publications/pers/2009journal/june/index.html.
