The NASA Stennis Space Center Applied Science Coastal Program sponsored two workshops to engage
the Gulf of Mexico coastal management community in the development of a 3-5 year Strategic Plan.
Feedback from the first workshop helped NASA determine which issues are important to the region
over the next few years. Feedback from the second workshop provided ideas on how to establish
partnerships that will transition research to operational uses. The overarching purpose of the
Applied Sciences Program is to discover and demonstrate innovative applications of NASA Earth
Science Research and Technology and to maximize the benefits to society of the nation’s
investments in the NASA Earth Science Research Program.
